Notes
- Visa
- Indonesia B1 e-VOA: apply at evisa.imigrasi.go.id at least 5–10 days before travel. Fee ~USD 50/person. Download the PDF confirmation to show at DPS immigration.
- Currency
- Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Change USD or BDT at money changers on Legian/Poppies Lane — airport and hotel rates are poor. Carry IDR cash for temples, warungs, and markets.
- Transport
- Hire a private driver for day trips (~IDR 600,000 for a full day) — far more convenient and cheaper than individual taxis. Book through the hotel the evening before.
- Temple etiquette
- Sarong and covered shoulders required at all Hindu temples. Most provide sarongs at the entrance. Remove shoes before entering inner courtyards.
- Safety
- At Uluwatu Temple and Monkey Forest: keep phones, sunglasses, and jewellery secured or hidden. Resident macaques are bold and will grab shiny or food-smelling items.
